Ukraine. Background is the well-known fact that Ukraine is to a large extent dependent on the
import of oil and gas. This renders Ukraine economically vulnerable and leads to political efforts
to reduce this dependency through a revised energy policy.
This revised energy policy puts more weight on renewable energy sources in combination with
various subgoals such as increasing energy efficiency. However, the analysis shows that some crucial
issues regarding an «integrated energy policy» are still open and should be clarified in near future.
