Khatia Udesian, Dali Sologashvili: Analysis of direct foreign investments in Georgia
The lowest rate of foreign direct investment in large and small businesses is recorded
in 2020, and in medium-sized businesses in 2018.
Direct foreign investments from the European Union do not enter Georgia stably.
Compared to 2010-2013, in 2014 the volume of investments from the European Union
increased significantly and amounted to 727,114.4 thousand US dollars. In 2015-
2016, the volume of investments decreased. The decreasing trend continued in 2019-
2021 as well.

In the last 10 years, the smallest volume of direct foreign investments from the
European Union was recorded in 2016 and amounted to 327,829.2 thousand US
dollars, while all investments of the highest volume came in 2022 - 963,391.7
thousand US dollars. In 2022, 46% of the total volume of direct foreign
investments was made up of the volume of investments from the EU countries.
